Safety matters. Each June, businesses across the U.S. demonstrate their commitment to health, safety, and the environment (HSE) by participating in National Safety Month activities, sharing a common goal to raise awareness and educate people on the leading causes of preventable injuries and ways to stay safe at work and home.

Water employees in Leeds, United Kingdom celebrate safety milestone.

At CH2M HILL, health, safety, and protecting the environment are embedded in everything we do — from how we kick off a staff meeting to the measures we take to safeguard our staff, project sites, and even company information. Our firm has made it a priority to live and breathe a global cultural of safety, and CH2M HILL’s WBG deserves special recognition for making HSE core to its business success.

Recently recognized by the National Safety Council, the WBG received the Occupational Award for accumulating 15 million consecutive work-hours, or the equivalent of 2.5 years, without an employee suffering a severe injury that resulted in time away from work. Setting a new record for CH2M HILL, the WBG earned the Gold Achievement & Service Star Award for also accumulating 5.6 million work-hours without a recordable injury.

On June 19, WBG employees around the globe gathered for a special luncheon at their facilities and project sites to celebrate the group’s significant achievements. Employees, ranging from new summer interns to 40-year veterans, participated and embraced the firm’s renewed focus on employee health and safety. Attendees signed banners to signify their individual support and dedication to HSE programs and watched a program produced by HSE highlighting the WBG’s leaders’ commitment to safety and why it is critical to incorporate safety into your day-to-day behaviors.
