Ken retired from CH2M HILL in 1993 after 42 years. It was to be the beginning of a new challenge for him: watercolor painting.

In previous years, he spun a potter’s wheel to make bowls and vases and fabricated wooden objects in his well-equipped woodworking shop. Like his mother, Ken saw beauty in everything.

His mother, Peg Stuart, was a well-known artist who used many mediums in her works with watercolors being her favorite. That may have had a hand in getting Ken started in 1994.

He set up a small studio in his woodworking shop. He took lessons from some of the Oregon State University artists and others at the Corvallis Art Guild, which he joined and became a highly active member. He chaired the annual “Artist’s Clothesline Sale” on the grounds of the Benton County Courthouse for many years. Ken was also a member of the Oregon Watercolor Society. Many of his paintings have been shared with his family and friends.

Ken passed away on March 20, 2007, at his home in Albany, Oregon. He was 76 years old.

Here is a sampling of Ken’s Art.
