Following his college graduation, Bob joined Blue Ribbon Construction Company where he was in charge of utilities construction and operations (1959-1960). In 1960, he moved to Broward County, Florida, where he was Assistant Director of Utilities until 1964, assisting in the initial development of a utilities department for the county, which included the purchase of private utilities and placing them under county operation, requiring the establishment of unified construction and operational criteria.

Bob was active in professional societies throughout his career, holding memberships in American Water Works Association, where he was honored as a Life Member; the American Society of Civil Engineers; the Consulting Engineers Council; the Florida Engineering Society, where he served as a chapter president; and the Water Pollution Control Federation. Bob also holds a Class A Certified Operator license for both water and wastewater, and he has been honored in Who’s Who in Engineering.
